Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that Republic Day parades in the state will no longer take place in stadiums or grounds with synthetic tracks. The decision comes as a measure to prevent potential damage to the synthetic tracks caused by the movement of vehicles and machinery during the parades, which could inconvenience athletes.
Government prioritizes athletic convenience
Expressing concern over the possible harm to synthetic tracks, the CM highlighted the state government's commitment to prioritizing the well-being of athletes. The decision aims to ensure that the infrastructure remains intact and doesn't disrupt the training and performance of sports enthusiasts utilizing these facilities.

In line with this decision, the Republic Day function initially scheduled at a Ludhiana stadium will now be relocated to the Punjab Agricultural University ground.
